Hi Donald - thanks for the response. Just to make sure if I understand, it seems you can speak English (natively), German (withouth accent), Mandarin and Indonesian.

You have no issue being understood by nativs when speaking German but won't be understood when speaking other languages with more accents right?

I agree there's a regional difference on speaker side as well as listener side. But I don't thing if one cannot be understood > it's because they mispronounce.

I received lots of comments on my LinkedIn / Facebook post of the same article - folks who are born to speak English in Singapore, India or Hongkong still encounter situations where American call them out and ask them to pronounce better.

I'm not sure that's a mispronunciation issue - it's Singapore / Hongkong / Indian English.

English is not OWNED by US or UK.
